"The Tell-Tale Heart" - A Newspaper Report (10th form FE)
Murder under Delusion
On the 6th of April there was a bad event. A son killed his father because of his physical speciality: an eye which looked like an eye of a vulture.
The 74-year-old Kenny was killed by his 32-year-old son Kyle.
“I loved my father a lot”, Kyle said. “But I can’t explain why I hated his eye. When I saw it, I went really angry and I knew that one day I would kill him.”
He planned his crime very well. In the night from Monday to Tuesday he went into his father’s bedroom while he was sleeping. Kyle was watching him, until he woke up, because he heard a noise from his son.
The son went crazy and threw his father’s bed on him. After that he cut his father into pieces and put them under the planks of the flooring.
One day three policemen came to the house. “The neighbours called us, because they had heard a scream.” One of the policemen told us, that Kyle explained, it would have been his own shriek. “We stayed a little bit longer in his house, but we didn’t find any blood or something like that. After that the man went very nervous.”
The reason of his nervousness was that he heard a beating and he thought it was his father’s heart.
He could not stand the agony of hearing this sound and admitted the crime.

What this was about:
In der Reihe "Crime Reports" lasen die Schüler meines FE-Kurses des 10. Jahrgangs zunächst zwei Kurzgeschichten, in denen Verbrechen im Vordergrund standen. Das waren "The Umbrella Man" von Roald Dahl und "The Tell-Tale Heart" von Edgar Allen Poe. Ziel der Unterrichteinheit war eine prozessorientierte Förderung der Schreibkompetenz. Das bedeutet, die Schüler durchliefen bewusst verschiedene Phasen des Schreibprozesses, wie Planen, Entwerfen, Beurteilen und Überarbeiten. Geschrieben werden sollte schließlich ein kurzer Zeitungsbericht über die Verbrechen in den Kurzgeschichten.
Damit die Schüler bewusster die einzelnen Schreibphasen durchlaufen konnten, wurde hauptsächlich in Gruppen gearbeitet. Neu war hierbei für die Schüler vor allem, dass sie gemeinsam mit zwei bis drei anderen ihren Bericht schreiben sollten.
Während des Schreibens gab es auch Phasen, in denen die geschriebenen Texte durch andere Lernende beurteilt wurden. Das sollte das Überarbeiten der Berichte erleichtern. Auch das Beurteilen von Schülertexten war ungewohnt für die Lernenden.
Die Gruppe von Deborah, Robert und Andreas gelang es schließlich am besten, einen gelungenen Zeitungsbericht über den Mord eines Sohnes an seinem Vater in "The Tell-Take Heart" zu verfassen. Daher wurde dieser Bericht für das Erscheinen auf der Homepage der TMO von den Schülern ausgewählt.
